Safety Feature in Car’s

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009
No matter how safe your automobile is you should make sure you have the best auto insurance your budget can afford.

There are safety measures to take if you have air bags. Airbags are meant to save lives, but if you are too close to them when they deploy it can do the opposite. Air bags deploy very rapidly so be sure you seat back from the air bag and use a safety belt to minimize injury .

Rollover prevention is another safety measure being used by car makers. They have devolved roll over air bags, variable Ride-Height and electronic stability control. Tire pressure, loading of vehicle, improper maneuvering and panic steering are all common causes of a roll over.

Under deflated tires and overloaded tires is a leading cause for tire failure. You should check your tire pressure once a month. You also should check the tires condition once a month. Tires can turn a nice day out with the family into a tragedy if they fail.

Every year new cars are given safety ratings. If you are looking for the best rated cars for safety rely on these ratings for help. They test many aspects of driving safety such as all these safety issue we have talked about. Get Texas Car Insurance Quotes online !

Uninsured Motorist are risky business

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Why is it necessary to have Automobile insurance? This has been an debate for many years. Well there are many reasons that it is important to maintain at least the states minimum coverage. One is the financial safety net it provides. Second is because it is the law.Law makers have found good reasons to introduce minimums and laws for auto insurance. Many states are becoming very stiff on these laws. Years ago there where no such laws. Many people took the risk of driving uninsured.

Unfortunately, many still do take the risk, but they eventually pay the price. Many consumers opt to add uninsured motorist to cover themselves from such situations. It is an added coverage. If you are in an accident with a uninsured motorist the insurance company takes care of your damages and settles with the uninsured driver for you.

If a person is in an accident and they have no insurance it does not excuse them from the cost of damages if they are at fault. First, they would be given fines depending on the State they are driving in. They would be ordered to pay the damages and if they fail to pay they risk losing their license.

The costly risks of driving uninsured

In most states the lien holders will demand you carry coverage for the vehicle you drive so they are not at a loss if the vehicle should be damaged in an accident. If you own your car you are not recommended to carry Comprehensive coverage for your vehicle, but it is recommended to protect yourself.

The penalties for not having insurance in the State of Texas are clear. First Time offenders will receive fines up to $350. Depending on the County your vehicle can be towed. The fines can double and triple on 2nd and 3rd offenses. And a 3rd offense could also mean a license suspension.

“Failure to maintain financial responsibility” will require you to pay a surcharge for up to 3 years to the State of Texas for the violation. What this means is you will have to pay an additional fine every year for 3 years. These are very expensive fines.

Texas works with a point system which tracks all of your driving history and calculates it to weed out bad drivers. Too many points you lose your license. In turn you pay higher surcharges and your insurance rates could skyrocket. So as you can see it is very smart to maintain automobile insurance for multiple reasons.

Auto Insurance Minimums

Driving in many States without auto insurance can cost you hundreds of dollars. In Texas particularly it can also cost you time off work, your license and even jail time. Before you can even register your car with the State of Texas you must have proof of insurance.

Auto insurance pays for damage and medical expenses due to an automobile accident. Each state has minimums of what coverage you must have on each vehicle. Texas says you must have at least a 25/50/25.

They say you must carry at least $25000 in coverage for bodily injury or death to one person per accident.

$50000 for two persons. And last but not least, $25000 to damage or destruction to property per accident. Adding coverage to protect yourself is up to you.

The amount the states require will not protect you if you are found to be at fault. Many insurance companies recommend higher limits to protect you. If the accident is settled at a much higher cost then what you have coverage for you are still responsible for payment out of your pocket.
